ANAMNESIS

 
 

Accessing memory is a cyclical journey-- one of confusion and understanding, fracture and repair, remembering and forgetting. The experience of recounting trauma based memory is chaotic, cathartic, disorienting, inaccurate, and incomplete. ​​Anamnesis takes the viewer along this experience, using the forest as a visual metaphor for hypnosis based memory recollection. Anamnesis captures the elusiveness of memory through a forest of symbols, structuring the viewer experience not as a linear recounting of a specific memory, but rather the fragmented journey of recounting itself.
